Medicine Hat is known as the "gas city" known for its in the large natural gas fields. The areas gently sloping valley with converging waterways makes it an ideal place for hearty native cottonwood trees, bison herds, which commonly passes the area, and the historic Blackfoot, Creek, and Assiniboine Nations tribes.
Medicine Hat has been a city since about 1883 when the Canadian Pacific Railway reached the area and crossed the river.
